Alliance for Digital Innovation Applauds Enactment of Maryland Law to Accelerate Modernization and Enhance Cybersecurity of State IT Systems

May 9, 2024

Annapolis, Maryland, May 9, 2024 – Maryland Governor Wes Moore today signed into law legislation that will support the modernization of the state’s information technology and improve its services to citizens. The Alliance for Digital Innovation applauds the Maryland General Assembly, especially the bill’s sponsors, and Governor Moore for the taking this important step to enhance cybersecurity and accelerate the digital transformation of the state’s government services.

SB 982, Modernization of Information Technology Projects, establishes an Information Technology Investment Fund and improved processes to oversee and accelerate the replacement of legacy IT systems at state agencies.

“The creation of the Maryland’s Information Technology Investment Fund provides an important opportunity to modernize the state’s legacy IT systems and networks while strengthening the state’s cybersecurity posture,” said Dan Wolf, director of state programs for the Alliance, who testified in favor of the bill in the legislature this year.

The Alliance for Digital Innovation works to streamline the U.S. public sector’s acquisition and adoption of innovative commercial technologies to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of government services.
