Matthew Cornelius, Executive Director of the Alliance for Digital Innovation
The Alliance for Digital Innovation (ADI) congratulates Congress on passing the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES Act). This legislation will provide necessary financial assistance to workers, families, small businesses, and Americans suffering from the COVID-19 epidemic, and will be a critical component of the ongoing effort needed to stabilize the American economy
In addition to the critical funds for those impacted by the coronavirus, the CARES Act also provides significant, necessary resources to Federal agencies experiencing serious operational challenges during the crisis. The technology community has strongly partnered with the government to ensure continuity of operations as agencies have moved to a more decentralized, distributed, digital operating model. We strongly encourage agencies to leverage these new resources to embrace commercial innovation and adopt emerging technology and cybersecurity capabilities in order to more quickly, effectively, and securely deliver important government services to citizens and to enhance operational capacity.
ADI recommends that the President quickly sign the bill and that agencies take immediate steps to partner closely with industry and implement the requirements called for in the CARES Act. Further, ADI looks forward to working with the Administration and Congress on any additional measures that support the ability of Federal agencies to modernize their technology and better deliver digital citizen services.
