Pandemic Federal Telework Act: A Statement from Matthew Cornelius, ADI Executive Director
The Alliance for Digital Innovation (ADI) congratulates Senators Chris Van Hollen, James Lankford, and Kyrsten Sinema on the introduction of S. 4518, the Pandemic Federal Telework Act. This legislation is critical to ensuring the Federal workforce, who are on the front lines of the COVID-19 response, can easily and effectively work remotely during the pandemic. Crucially, the legislation would also amend the Modernizing Government Technology Act to explicitly allow agencies to leverage the Technology Modernization Fund (TMF) for “enabling or improving telework capabilities.”
ADI has long advocated for the TMF funds to be significantly increased so that agencies can leverage those resources to adopt new and innovative commercial technologies that meet mission needs. As Federal departments and agencies continue their response and recovery efforts, this bipartisan bill will ensure access to secure connectivity and digital workflow capabilities will improve the continuity of government and increase the delivery of vital services, benefits, and information to American citizens.
ADI strongly encourages the Senate to advance this important piece of legislation. Further, ADI looks forward to working with the Administration and Congress on any additional measures that support the ability of Federal agencies to modernize their technology and better deliver digital citizen services.
