Position purpose:The State Director will translate ADI member expertise and state digital-government priorities into practical policy outcomes that help governments securely adopt modern commercial technology, improve citizen services, and reduce barriers to innovation.

The Opportunity
State governments are under pressure to deliver secure, reliable, and easy-to-use digital services while navigating aging systems, cyber threats, inflexible procurement rules, uneven technology funding, and workforce shortages. The State Director will lead ADI’s state-facing strategy and serve as a trusted advocate for policies that allow public sector leaders to buy and use modern commercial technology more effectively.
Position Summary
The State Director is a senior policy and advocacy role responsible for developing and executing ADI’s state government engagement strategy. The role will monitor and shape state legislative and regulatory activity, build coalitions, represent ADI before policymakers and stakeholders, and help ADI members align around clear state policy priorities. This leader must be equally comfortable drafting policy language, tracking state policy and legislation, testifying in public forums, briefing executives, building relationships in state capitols, and translating technical issues into practical policy recommendations.
